South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) club officers recently attended the Georgia Fall Leadership Conference, held in Atlanta. At the conference, PBL officers had an opportunity to convene with various other student organizations to enhance their leadership skills and to learn from one another.
Students also competed in various skill events against other PBL organizations in the state of Georgia. SGTC’s PBL brought home five individual awards and two chapter awards. PBL Reporter/Historian Kowanna Lillard of Americus won first place in Powerpoint and second place in Medical Terminology. PBL President Sandy Price of Oglethorpe earned second place in PBL Knowledge. PBL Secretary Amber Raybon of Americus won fifth place in Spreadsheets, and PBL Parliamentarian Dorothy Wilcher of Americus won fifth place in Powerpoint.
As a chapter, SGTC’s PBL won first place in both the Stock Market Game and March of Dimes.
PBL is the largest student leadership organization in the world. It not only benefits the students that participate in any of the PBL events and activities, it also brings leadership and teamwork skills together in a hands-on environment. PBL enhances the member’s career portfolio and fosters the transition from school to work.
FBLA-PBL’s mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. Through integrated programs and curriculum, FBLA-PBL is on the leading edge of career and technical education. Promoting business ethics is critical to the organization and to the future of the Americus area economy.
