AMERICUS —
Red Ribbon Week is observed Oct. 23-31. The goal of the Red Ribbon Campaign is to bring communities together to communicate and take an active stance against substance abuse and teach students the importance of being drug free.
In anticipation of Red Ribbon Week, students in the art classes at Staley Middle School competed in a T-shirt design contest. Students had to design a shirt advertising being drug free. Seventh-grader, Natiya Williams won first place. Noah Lee placed second and Makyre Spann placed third. Williams’ drawing has been submitted in the district-wide competition for judging. The winner of the contest will receive a T-shirt with his or her design printed on it.
