PRESTON — Webster County Elementary/Middle School is the recipient of a 2009-2010 “Distinguished Title I School” award. In order to reward successful schools and school districts for significant progress in improving student achievement, the Georgia Department of Education (GDE) honors K-12 Title I schools that make adequate yearly progress for three or more consecutive years and school districts that make significant progress in closing the achievement gap. Webster County Elementary/Middle School has made AYP for eight consecutive years and has been recognized as a “Distinguished Title I School” for six years.
Schools making AYP for four or more consecutive years receive a certificate of recognition, a monetary award and are honored at the GDE annual Schools of Excellence Celebration hosted by the State Superintendent of Schools, Kathy Cox. The funds received will be used to purchase incentives to motivate students to improve levels of achievement at Webster County Elementary/Middle School.
