The following food service inspections were conducted recently by Macon County Environmental Health.
• Cross Road Cafe, 423 Spaulding Road, Montezuma — Dec. 28 — 81 B
— Observed raw chicken in produce sink. During inspection chicken was removed and cleaned and sanitized. Observed raw chicken stored over produce. Corrected On-Site.
— Observed ready to eat foods that were not date marked. Date mark as discussed.
— There was no clean tableware notice at self-service buffet. Observed foods on display with no protective shielding. Post notice and shield as discussed.
— Cold water was shut off at employee hand-wash sink
— Observed paper towels in rest room not kept in dispensers. Observed rest rooms that needed cleaning. Keep paper towels in dispensers and clean rest rooms.
• Macon County Jail, 117 Crescent St., Oglethorpe — Dec. 21 — 97 A
— Observed cups used to dispense bulk foods.
• Oglethorpe Barbecue Co., 1956 Ga. Highway 49 South, Oglethorpe — Dec. 21 — 96 A
— Flies were observed. Area where cooking is being done needs screening.
• The Vegetable Basket, 105 Main St., Marshallville — Dec. 29 — 95 A
— Observed light fixtures over food storage area that were not shielded. Shield as discussed.
— Observed CFSM (certified food service manager) preparing food without hair restraint. Wear hair restraints when preparing food.
— Observed paint chipping from ceiling and damaged floor. Repair as discussed.
— Observed vent hood that needs cleaning. Clean as discussed.
• Troy’s Snack Shack, 107 Cherry St., Montezuma — Dec. 21 — 96 A
— Observed ice on stored counter without protective shielding. Shield or move behind counter.
— Bathroom not enclosed with tight-fitting, self-closing doors.
• Yoder’s Deitsch House, 5252 Ga. Highway 26, Montezuma — Dec. 21 — 91 A
— Observed roast beef cooled since 12-20-12 that had not reached at or below 41 degrees F. within six hours. Item discarded.
AMERICUS — The following food service inspections were conducted recently by Sumter County Environmental Health.
• 3 Squares Diner, 1204 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Americus — Dec. 20 — 79 C
— Observed food employee peeling boiled eggs with bare hands. Employees should wear gloves when handling ready to eat foods Corrected On-Site.
— Observed creamer stored on dining tables at room temperature. Packaging states that food is potentially hazardous and should be cold-held at less than 41 degrees F. Corrected On-Site.
— Potentially hazardous food not held at 135 degrees F. or above (grits). Grits need to be hot-held at 135 degrees F. or hotter. Corrected On-Site.
— Observed moldy build-up on shelving in walk-in cooler. Observed build-up of food debris, grease on upper shelves. Shelving needs to be cleaned to remove build-up. Correct By: 01/20/2013
