Wednesday storm, wind causes damage
In the neighborhoods in the Columbia Avenue area of Americus strong winds caused a few trees and many large limbs to fall and cause damage to homes and cars. A large tree was uprooted on Lakewood Street and the roof of a nearby house was severely damaged. One family in the area had to spend the night in at a hotel after a tree fell on their house and car. That storm rolled through around 5:30 p.m. At around 4 p.m. Wednesday, heavy winds caused the front glass to be blown out of the Center for the Arts in downtown. More on Wednesday's storm will be available in Sunday's edition and online.
