WIA recognized by MF Workforce Investment Board

AMERICUS — The Middle Flint Workforce Investment Board recognized South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) and its Workforce Investment Act (WIA) staff for their outstanding efforts and for exceeding their annual WIA Performance Measures in the Middle Flint Workforce Area 18.

Janice West, Workforce Investment Act director for the River Valley Regional Commission, and Janet Teele, Workforce Investment board chair, presented the Certificate of Appreciation to SGTC recently. SGTC Vice President of Economic Development Wally Summers and Sandhya Muljibhai, WIA coordinator for SGTC, accepted the certificate on behalf of the college.

 The SGTC WIA office met or exceeded their performance measures. The performance measures include: number of adults, dislocated workers and youth that entered employment, the employment and credential rate, employment retention rate and average earnings measures for all adults, dislocated workers, and youth as well as skill attainment, participant and employer satisfaction and other measures.

Muljibhai and Minnie Williamson, WIA Program assistant, work with all of the SGTC WIA students. The SGTC two-person WIA staff manages the WIA participants attending SGTC at both its Americus and Crisp County Center locations. In addition to case management, they also complete intake/eligibility; career assessments, job search assistance and conduct follow up services after training is complete.
