Cordele —
Linda Mae Powell, 72, of 262 Old Ferry Road, Cobb, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Crisp Regional Hospital. A native of Sumter County, she was born July 31, 1939, the daughter of the late Clyde Cleveland and Lily Mae Braswell Chambliss. Mrs. Powell loved gardening, grandchildren and her dog Daisy. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today, April 10, 2012, in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with the Rev. J.T. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel, and at other times, the family residence, 262 Old Ferry Road, Cobb. Pallbearers include Jason Ergle, Tye Powell, Tommy Stephens, Jesse Niles Sikking, David Askew and Lance Richards. Honorary pallbearers include Capt. Clayton Bagwell.
Survivors include her husband, Arlis Powell of Cobb; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and Harold Ergle of Cordele and Jan and Jesse McCorkle of Cobb; a sister-in-law, Gwen Chambliss of Americus; five grandchildren, Crystal and David Askew, Jason and Emily Ergle, Kimberly and Clayton Bagwell and Jessica and Lance Richards; five great-grandchildren, Jesse Niles Sikking, Shelby Sikking, Caleb Askew, Sydney Kate Bagwell and James Preston Ergle; and her beloved dog, Daisy. She was preceded in death by a brother, C.C. Chambliss Jr. and a sister, Minnie Morehouse.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11 at Bronwood Baptist Church, followed by interment at the Williams Cemetery near Smithville. A memorial service will then be held at 3:30 p.m. at Magnolia Manor.
