BUENA VISTA — Feb. 27 was a big day at Marion County Middle/High School. One hundred ninety three FCCLA members, 80 judges and 60 advisers and other adults registered for the FCCLA region competitive events that were hosted at MCMHS. The competitive events are called FCCLA STAR events. STAR stands for students taking action for recognition. Megan Scott, region II adviser, organized and facilitated the event.
Marion County had an outstanding showing this year with all 13 students winning at region and advancing to state competition.
Those students receiving gold medals at region and advancing to state are listed below with their event area of competition:
• Chapter Service: Emmy Medders and Anna Hall
• Focus on Children: T’Keyah Terry and Felicia Hill
• Illustrated Talk: Hein Tran, Kayla Fuller and Amber Kazee
• Life Event Planning: Steffanie Hadley and Morgan Davis
• Teach and Train: Ashley Crimes
Those receiving a silver medal at region and advancing to state are:
• Entrepreneurship: Mallory Mock, Conner McCorkle and Emily Parrish
