AMERICUS —
Dr. Malcolm Floyd was one of the featured speakers at Staley Middle School's annual Man Up program.
The program is a Father (or other prominent male figure) & Son Day that celebrates the importance of building strong relationships between father and son and/or other prominent male figures in the family. Floyd spoke to the group about some the main health issues in our community (diabetes, high blood pressure and smoking) and offered ways that the men could improve their health and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
"If we don't take care of ourselves, who is going to be there for our children," said Floyd to the group. "We have to be healthy so they can have someone to look up to and learn from."
Floyd is a local family physician at Phoebe Sumter Family Medicine Associates, which is located in the Women's and Family Health Center at the new Phoebe Sumter Medical Campus. He is a native of Albany and he and his wife Kimberley have two sons: Malcolm II, age 2, and Mathias, 10 months.
