AMERICUS — Beginning months ago with the planting of the first pine by Superintendent Roy Brooks andDonnie Smith, the Community/Schools Leadership Project at Central Office is now complete. A bundle of pines was donated by the Georgia Forestry Commission. Many other donors of product and services were responsible for the curb appeal improvement of Central Office.

The Parrish Company made an $800 monetary donation to the project. With the money, all wood and hardware for the completion of the wooden structures and the flower boxes was possible. Dent Hardware and Barbara Henson of Buena Vista donated bark and plant material and Lowe's of Americus donated a substantial portion of the extensive plants around the building.

"Lowe's and Parrish Construction underwrote the majority of the project. Without them we would have had to reduce the scope and plans for the decoration and selected plants," said Mulkey McMichael, volunteer project coordinator.

The Grounds Department of Americus-Sumter County High School assisted in movement of heavier stones and planting of the donated materials. The Central Office of Sumter County Schools now welcomes visitors to 100 Learning Lane.
