AMERICUS — The South Georgia Technical College Culinary Arts advisory committee met recently in The Landings II restaurant in Hicks Hall on the SGTC Americus campus.

Advisory committee members met with SGTC’s Culinary Arts instructors David Finley and Jennifer Slenker, as well as SGTC instructional staff, to review all aspects of the program and keep the program abreast of trends and changes in the culinary arts industry.

Members of the committee present at the advisory meeting were Jay Duke of 2 Dukes BBQ in Americus, Christy Duke of Duke’s Catering in Americus, Dave Andrus of Ruby Tuesday in Americus, Larry Jackson of Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Culinary Arts student representative Marvin Garrett and SGTC Dean for Academic Affairs David Kuipers.

The committee serves as a link between the workplace and the college.

SGTC offers more than 90 degree, diploma, and technical certificate of credit opportunities. Students may apply now. Spring quarter classes begin April 6, with open registration on April 5.
