Pollock tries to persuade the Panthers
Last Thursday, parents of prospective football players at Americus-Sumter got the opportunity to meet new football coach Michael Pollock.
Pollock was full of energy as he gave his plan for the future. He talked about being transparent, passionate and running a first-class program.
He mentioned priorities, team philosophy and goals. Wearing coat and tie on game days, allowing Panther Club members to watch film with him and open practices were all parts of his message.
He also pointed out that the Valdosta football team during his tenure as assistant head coach/offensive coordinator had a 98 percent graduation rate.
Pollock has been a little bit of everywhere as a coach, including Cook and Washington counties.
One item of business that may have raised some eyebrows was him mentioning he wanted to bring in his own offensive and defensive coordinators. If that’s the case, what about Darren Alford and Kagan McClain? They were the coordinators last season.
Pollock has high expectations for the Panther football program, but is he asking too much from a program that hasn’t had success since the consolidation of the county and city schools?
