BUTLER —
Elizabeth Tyner Averett, 91, of 107 Sylvan Road, Americus, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013,at Taylor County Health and Rehab in Butler. A native of Phoenix City, Ala., she was born Nov. 4, 1921, the daughter of the late Riley T. and Neomia Young Walker. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a retired seamstress for the Manhattan Shirt Co.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Rusty Mauldin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Central Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Home, P.O. Box 1000, Stockbridge, GA 30281 or a charity of one’s choice.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Averett of Americus and Shirley Ashcraft of Reynolds; three sisters, Laler Mae Arnold, Ruby Yawn and Frances Halstead, all of Americus; one grandchild, Beth Hill of Tampa, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Tiffany Hill of Macon, Melissa and Chris Scott, Travis and Holly Goodin, and Chris Goodin, all of Butler, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Averett; two brothers, Fred Walker and Javers Walker and a grandson, Gregg Goodin.
