Has questions about airport renaming
I have some questions about the renaming of Souther Field: Whose idea was this? What is the reason for it? Why wasn't the public given a chance to express their opinion about this?
During World War II, my father was a flight instructor at Souther Field and my aunt was a dispatcher. Many other local people were employed there. I believe that most of us who have had any connection with Souther Field do not want to see the name changed.
I hope the people who made this decision will reconsider. President Carter has many other places named for him, but he has had no connection with Souther Field.
Please don't try to alter an important part of Sumter County's history. Let Souther Field remain Souther Field as it has been for the past 92 years.
