AMERICUS —
Today is the most holy day for Christians around the globe.
Today we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ: our King, our Savior, our Counselor, our Almighty God, our everlasting power, the Prince of Peace.
Today, during all the festivities of family gatherings and gift giving and sharing of feasts, let us all remember the real reason for Christmas.
If Jesus Christ had not been born in a Bethlehem stable over 2,000 years ago, He never would have died on the cross for our sins. He never would have been crucified, dead and buried. He never would have risen from the dead and ascended into heaven where he sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. The world would still be in darkness.
Today and every day, we should celebrate the greatest gift ever given in the history of mankind: the gift from God of His only Son, who would be sacrificed so that those who believe in Him will have everlasting life.
