South Georgia Tech Lady Jets extend win streak to 9
The South Georgia Technical College Lady Jets won their 9th consecutive game in convincing fashion on Thursday night by hammering the Central Georgia Technical College Cougars 82-45 at the Hanger in Americus. The Lady Jets stormed to a 49-19 first half lead, thanks in large part to freshman Shanique Holston who led all first half scorers with 10 points. Shontae McCall also bolstered the Lady Jets in the first half by pulling down 7 rebounds and fellow sophomore Inna Leja added 8 points as well to send the Jet’s into the locker room with a very comfortable lead.

A tale of two halves for GSW Women
The Georgia Southwestern Lady Hurricanes were looking to avoid their second conference loss in a row as they faced the visiting Lady Saints of North Georgia (10-9, 4-6 PBC). Armed with the PBC's leading scorer, Jaymee Carnes, the Lady Saints faded away in the second half as GSW walked away with the 87-68 win.

Lady Canes basketball wins big on the road
Three days after righting the ship with a 19-point victory over North Georgia, the Georgia Southwestern Lady Hurricanes earned their biggest conference victory since defeating Montevallo 101-57 two months earlier. Saturday's 72-47 victory over the Georgia College Bobcats (4-16, 2-9 PBC) put another notch in GSW's PBC belt.

Lady Canes softball drops first 2 games of season; rebound with doubleheader sweep
A five-run seventh inning in Game 1 and a four-run first inning in Game 2 was enough to propel Catawba College to a softball doubleheader sweep of Georgia Southwestern in the season opener for both schools Saturday evening.

Jets, Lady Jets sweep Georgia Perimeter in Decatur
The South Georgia Technical College Jets and Lady Jets swept a tough Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) opponent this past weekend when the Jets upended the top-ranked Georgia Perimeter Jaguars 60 – 58 and the Lady Jets defeated the number two ranked Lady Jaguars 58 – 50 in Decatur.

Propelled by 2 individual champions, Americus-Sumter finishes third in area tournament
The Americus-Sumter wrestling team finished 3rd overall at the 1-AAA area wrestling tournament in Cairo, Georgia. The Panthers had Jessie Collier (113), Dylan Hale (145), and Eric Williams (160) finish in forth place. Third place finishers for the Panthers include Xavier Brown (170), Cary Mallate (195), and Ryan Garrett (220).

Georgia Southwestern baseball splits opening day doubleheader
It was opening day for Georgia Southwestern Baseball, and the 2012 season began with a hearty challenge: the #16 ranked Barry University Buccaneers. The Hurricane arms kept the visitors' bats at bay for the most part as Georgia Southwestern split their doubleheader, 3-4 and 7-0.

Landreth leads Southland in state tournament; wins individual title
The Southland Raiders traveled to Tatnall Square Academy on Friday and Saturday to compete in the 2012 GISA State Wrestling Tournament. Freshman Ryan Landreth led a talented group of underclassmen into the tournament with high expectations, and he did not disappoint. Landreth, who showed total domination by wrestling his way to an undefeated regular season, was looking to take home the 113 pound class individual state title. On Saturday Landreth achieved his goal by winning the individual title in an impressive team showing.
