ELLAVILLE — Schley County dropped a pair of basketball games this weekend to Webster County and Marion County.

The Wildcats lost 72-56 to Webster on Friday in which Johnny Guinn and Lorenzo Lawson scored 19 and 18 points, respectively.

Webster led by at least 10 for most of the way.

But the difference came at the free-throw line. Schley was 7 of 8 while Webster made 23 of 39.

The Wildcats lost 66-57 to Marion on Saturday. The game was tied at 28 at the half before the Eagles pulled away.

Trae Mann had 20 points, and Lawson and Markendous Thornton each had 10.

Fashawn Swanson led Marion with 20, and Tyreck Johnson chipped in 11.

The Wildcats (4-16, 1-10 2A-A) two games left in the season against Wilcox and Quitman Counties this week.

"I've been extremely proud of them the last two games," said coach David Kessler. "It would be easy to just go through the motions. I think I've seen as much fight and heart out of them these last two ball games than I've seen anytime of the year. They're going to scratch and fight and claw down to the end."
