- Members of the Americus Police Department, Georgia Southwestern State University Poiice Department and others gather at Walmart to take 20 foster children Christmas shopping. Each child could pick out what they wanted.
AMERICUS — The Americus Police Department shopped for Christmas with 20 local children who are in foster care.
The money was donated by local businesses and churches.
The police officers and the kids met at Roman Oven for dinner on Dec. 20. The restaurant donated the meals.
After dinner, the officers took the kids to Walmart where the kids were paired with officers from APD and Georgia Southwestern State University Police and given a gift card.
