Nine candidates vying for title in 2019
AMERICUS — Southland Academy announces the 31st annual Miss SAR Pageant Contestants.
The seniors in this year’s pageant include Anslee Barnes, daughter of Russ and Jarret Barnes of Americus; and Mary Catherine Dean, daughter of John and Tiffany Dean of Americus. The junior class is represented by Hannah Adkins, daughter of Danny and Lisa Adkins of Americus; Hannah Mitchell, daughter of Jason and Holly Mitchell of Plains; and Maddy Copeland, daughter of Melanie Copeland of Americus. The freshman contestants are Delaney Comer, daughter of Brandon and Kim Comer of Americus; Sam Pinnell, daughter of Drs. Lee and Faith Pinnell of Americus; Averi Smith, daughter of Deke and Jaime Smith of Americus; and Lydia Anne Love, daughter of Jason and Angie Love of Americus.
The pageant is held each year as a fundraiser for the school’s scholarship funds. This year’s pageant will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 22 at the Melvin T. Kinslow Gymnatorium at Southland Academy. This year, the pageant will host its first Miss SAR Princess Program featuring girls in kindergarten through fifth grades. Miss Georgia, Annie Jorgensen, will emcee the pageant. The public is invited to attend, and tickets are available at the school office and Clinic Drug Store.
