Ruth Self, 61, of Ellaville, Georgia, passed away at her home on January 21, 2025. Born on January 9, 1964, in Americus, Georgia, Ruth spent the majority of her life as a resident of Schley County.
Ruth was the daughter of Joseph Benjamin Holley and Evelyn Jeanette Smith Holley, both of whom preceded her in death. She attended high school locally and spent her career in retail, serving her community with dedication and commitment.
Ruth was married to the late Richard Vernon Self, with whom she shared 39 years until his passing in October 2022.
She is survived by her cousin, Kay Faircloth; her friends Aimee Argo, Sandra Bowen, John Olvera, Chad Hoffman, and all of their families and many other cousins, relatives, families & friends.
Ruth was a unique individual who always spoke her mind and lived life on her terms. She had a deep love for animals and was especially fond of her pets—Sweetie Pie, her Chihuahua; Buddy, her Jack Russell; and Ivey, her Maine Coon cat.
A visitation will be held on February 8, 2025, from 1 PM to 2 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel, with a service to follow at 2 PM, officiated by Steven Wright. Ruth will be laid to rest at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ruth’s individuality, strength, and determination left a lasting impact on those who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
