Sumter County Commissioners vote to opt out of House Bill 581

The Sumter County Board of Commissioners met on Feb 18. Lt. Vince Mooney with the Georgia State Patrol Legislative Liaison introduced the new post commander at Americus, SFC Stewart Parker.
The following employees were recognized for the month of February. Sheriff Eric Bryant and Stephine Floyd, also with the Sheriff’s office, have both given 20 years of service to the County.
Gregory Ingram, with Public Works, was recognized for seven years of service, Tabitha Wills, with the Tax Commissioner’s office, was recognized for 5 years of service, and Terri Wooden, with Human Resources, was recognized for 3 years of service.
Ethan Wolfe spoke during citizens comments, thanking the Commissioners for the lighting on the flagpole on the memorial wall. The flag pole was posted by the American Legion.
Commissioner Jessie Smith made a motion to opt out of House Bill 581, seconded by Commissioner Mark Waddell, passing unanimously.
