Americus, Georgia, and the business community proudly ranked in a tie at #39 among 125 distinguished communities recognized by Site Selection Magazine as premier Top Micropolitan destinations. This distinction underscores the Americus community’s commitment to fostering robust economic development projects through investment, innovation, and collaboration.
Selection criteria metrics included the highest number of recent impactful economic development projects with a population under 50,000. Last year, Americus was also a Top Micropolitan winner at #44. Only twelve other cities in Georgia were winners: Moultrie, LaGrange, Thomasville, Vidalia, Jefferson, Waycross, Bainbridge, Dublin, Cedartown, Douglas, Fitzgerald, and Statesboro. Six of these had more economic projects, while six had the same number or fewer than Americus. Because of the work of all these communities, Georgia was able to rank #2 as a Top State across the nation.
The city with the most Micropolitan projects across the United States was Findlay, Ohio, with 24. As Americus continues to grow, its recognition as a Top Micropolitan validates past achievements and serves as a catalyst for future success.
Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this accomplishment, including all our new and expanding businesses! Let’s keep working together to help our community thrive!
