With the CDC under attack, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is bringing Republicans and Democrats together to protect its work.

Today, Sen. Ossoff launched a push to pass the bipartisan Rural Health Focus Act, legislation he’s cosponsoring to continue improving and supporting rural health through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Office of Rural Health.

Through the Office of Rural Health, the CDC partners with rural communities to address health disparities and challenges unique to rural public health. This legislation will strengthen rural health infrastructure and authorize grants to improve health outcomes across rural Georgia.

“Georgia, the nation, and the world depend on the CDC. As the CDC suffers from mass firings and political attacks, I am bringing Republicans and Democrats together to protect their vital work in Georgia and nationwide,” Sen. Ossoff said.

Sen. Ossoff continues working to strengthen health care in rural Georgia.

In February, Sens. Ossoff and Susan Collins (R-ME) introduced the bipartisan Rural Veterans Transportation to Care Act to help more veterans in rural areas get transportation to VA health facilities and access the health care benefits they’ve earned.

In October, Sen. Ossoff announced $2.25 million in Federal funding for rural health centers through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to help those struggling with substance use disorder.

Last April, Sen. Ossoff delivered Federal resources to the University of Georgia’s Cognitive Aging Research and Education Center, which conducts vital research, education, and support for Alzheimer’s and dementia.
