Americus Police Department

On April 9, 2025 at 2:14 pm officers of the Americus Police Department were dispatched to a report of a person shot in a vacant lot on Hanson Drive in Americus. On arrival officers found a male victim on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds.

The officers rendered emergency first aid until EMS personnel arrived. The victim, Christian McGee, age 29 of Americus, was transported to Phoebe Sumter Medical center where he later succumbed to his wounds. The suspect, Jy’Qariuss Ty’Quan Foster, age 23 of Americus, was taken into custody at approximately 6:53 pm at a residence on Cherokee Street in Americus.
