Phoebe Sumter ICU nurses Kara Turner, Kimberly Barnes, Maggie Gonzalez, Shannon Gibson, Caris Ruis, Patricia Walker, Mary Swymer have been honored with the prestigious DAISY Award. This award recognizes the exceptional care and dedication of nurses who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families.
The ICU nurses have been nominated for their outstanding service. A patient’s family member shared stories of how the ICU nurses provided not only exceptional medical attention but also warmth, empathy, and respect, which brought comfort to the entire family.

“Their dedication and compassion have meant the world to us, and they truly embody the spirit of the DAISY Award,” said a family member.
They highlighted the nurses’ clear communication, their ability to answer questions, and their efforts to ensure the family understood the care being provided.
“They treated my mother as more than a patient, going above and beyond to make her feel safe and valued. During times when my mother was confused, these kind nurses provided her extra support and encouraging words,” said a family member.

Phoebe Sumter Medical Center is committed to recognizing and celebrating the extraordinary efforts of our nurses. The DAISY Award is a testament to the dedication and excellence demonstrated by our nursing staff.
