Georgia Southwestern commencement ceremonies to be held May 9

Georgia Southwestern University, (GSW), will proudly celebrate the achievements of more than 265 graduating students during Spring 2025 Commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 9, in the Convocation Hall of the Student Success Center, also known as the Storm Dome.

Two ceremonies will be held to honor the Class of 2025:

  • 10:00 a.m.College of Education and College of Nursing and Health Sciences
  • 1:30 p.m.College of Arts and Sciences and College of Business and Computing

GSW expects to confer degrees to approximately 184 students earning their bachelor’s degree, 75 earning their master’s degree, and 6 students with a specialist who will be walking in the ceremony.

Among the Spring 2025 graduates are 99 first-generation college students, individuals representing 12 states and 13 countries, with ages ranging from 18 to 61, and 14 earning their second degree.

GSW President Michelle Johnston, Ph.D, will preside over both ceremonies. Serving as the Grand Marshals and Macebearers will be Leisa Easom, Ph.D., associate dean and professor in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, for the morning ceremony and Sam Peavy, Ph.D, professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, for the afternoon ceremony.

Doors to the Convocation Hall will open one hour prior to each ceremony and close five minutes before the ceremony begins. Guests are encouraged to arrive early and plan for parking and seating. Accessible parking and seating will be available, and an overflow room will also be available with the event live streamed.
