AMERICUS — South Georgia Technical College’s (SGTC) Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) student organization for the Americus campus recently conducted officer interviews and elected new club officers for the 2015-2016 academic year. Officer applications were distributed at a special PBL informational session designed to recruit new PBL members the previous week, and students responded enthusiastically to the leadership opportunities provided by PBL. Candidates were interviewed by a panel that included SGTC staff members Andrea Oates, Ed,D., Academic Dean and PBL advisor; Donna Lawrence, business administrative technology instructor and PBL co-advisor; and Charlene Williams, Student Affairs administrative sssistant and former PBL member.
The group responded to a round of questions and were assessed as they completed a teamwork activity. The results of the officer interview and selection process were: Racarda Blackmon of Americus, president; Kimberly Jackson of Americus, vice president of Community Service and March of Dimes; Jose Rosa of Americus, vice president of Membership and Community Engagement; Blake Tippins of Americus, vice president of Public Relations and FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) Interactions; Alicia English of Americus, secretary; Fierra Riley of Americus, assistant secretary; and Maya Dunn of Oglethorpe, historian.
“Phi Beta Lambda is the oldest and largest business student organization, but students from all SGTC programs are welcome to become members,” said Oates. “We’re excited for a great year of service, education, and progress.”
