AMERICUS — The first baby of the new year arrived around 2 p.m. in Sumter County.
Ke’Miyah Aleigha Hightower was born at 1:48 p.m on Jan. 1, 2016, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, to Kenneth Hightower II and Destiny Walker, both of Americus.
The infant weighed in at 5 pounds and 13 ounces and 19 inches long at birth.
“My due date was not until Jan. 10, so this was a pleasant surprise,” said Walker.
As the New Year’s baby, little Ke’Miyah will receive a plaque and gifts from the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.
