LEESBURG — Jimmie Brown announces his candidacy for Superior Court Judge of the Southwestern Judicial Circuit to replace retiring Judge George Peagler. After Brown served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, he returned home to Georgia and earned a bachelor of science from Georgia Southwestern College in Americus in 1980. He went on to earn a juris doctor in law from Mercer University in 1983,  and has practiced law across the state for over 32 years from his office in Albany. He and his family have been residents of Lee County for over the past three decades.
The Southwestern Judicial Circuit is comprised of Lee, Macon, Schley, Stewart, Sumter and Webster counties. Three judges of the Superior Court collectively preside over the criminal and civil justice system for those six counties.

Brown said, “I offer the most experience in years and probably the most varied experience as well. These include cases in state, appellate and federal courts across Georgia including civil, domestic, contract and criminal cases from misdemeanors to homicides. As a certified court mediator I am now hired by other lawyers to amicably resolve their difficult cases.”
Brown continued, “We are blessed to live in an area with a lot of good people. I have raised my children here. I have represented my neighbors and their businesses here. We need highly qualified and competent judges to ensure justice is fairly administered. I take a very firm stand against crime. Drugs are endangering our once peaceful communities and driving away businesses. I am convinced that a thoughtful, planned, coordinated community effort can make a meaningful impact. Over the years Brown has volunteered his time on a number of public and corporate boards, service organizations and veteran organizations. He and his wife Tina are active members at First Baptist Church Leesburg where he has served as deacon chairman and currently teaches a Sunday school class.
