ASHS Panther soccer players honored with All-Region awards

AMERICUS – Several Americus-Sumter High School men’s soccer players recently received region honors for their contributions to the team in the 2015-16 season.
The awards were presented as follows:
Jada Boyd –First Team forward
Fransisco Gonzalez –First Team forward
Jonathon Abarca –First Team midfielder
Jasmine Austin –First Team defense
Yesenia Garcia –Second Team defense
Arize Anagbogu –Second Team defense
Elsey Hernandez, Christian Wooden, Jose Ovando, Rosendo Gonzalez, David Ovando, and Carlos Virgen each received honorable mention honors.
The Panthers wrapped up their 2016 season with an overall record of 10-6. The Panthers finished 7-3 in region 1-AAAA.
ASHS’ boys competed in the first round of the state payoffs, suffering a tough defeat to the Spalding High School Jaguars.
Panther head coach, Greg Fowler, expressed his congratulations to the team on a successful season and to the players for their region awards.
