AMERICUS – Georgia Southwestern State University head women’s basketball coach, Kelly Britsky, recently announced that Adrianne Brown will transfer from Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg, Ill., to play for the Blue and Gold in the fall of 2016.
“We are excited to have Adrianne join the Hurricane Family,” Britsky said. “I believe she will bring a lot to our team at the forward position.”
Brown, a five-foot-nine forward from Houston, Tx., averaged 9.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game last season as a freshman for the Lady Falcons. Her best performance came on Nov. 18 at Lindenwood University where she made nine of 13 shots and scored a season-high 20 points to lead the Lady Falcons to a 77-71 victory. Brown shot 49 percent from the field over 30 games and scored in double digits 13 times, highlighted by the 20-point night and a pair of 19-point games.
“Adrianne is very strong around the boards and finds a way to score the ball,” Britsky said. “She will have three years with our program so we are anxious to watch her develop into a top Peach Belt [Conference] player.”
Brown amassed plenty of recognition over her prep career at Clear Springs High School in League City, Texas. She was named a 2015 Greater Houston Area All-Star, a 2015 Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Star, was First Team All-District, First Team All-Academic and a member of the National Technical Honor Society.
