AMERICUS – Georgia Southwestern State University head women’s basketball coach, Kelly Britsky, has recently announced that Brittany Grant will transfer from the College of Central Florida (CF) in Ocala, Fla., to play for the Lady Hurricanes in the fall of 2016.
“We are thrilled to welcome Brittany to GSW,” Britsky said. “She will make an immediate impact on our program with her ability to play both the point guard and shooting guard position.”
Grant, a 5-foot-6 guard from Horn Lake, Miss., averaged 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in 2014-15 as a sophomore at CF. Her best performance came on Dec. 31, 2014, at South Georgia Technical College where she made six of eight shots from beyond the arc en route to a season-high 25 points and led the Patriots to a 75-64 victory. CF finished the season with a record of 25-7 and was the 2015 Mid-Florida Conference Champion. Grant scored in double digits on 11 occasions in 2014-15, highlighted by three games over 20 points. She started 54 games over her two-year career at CF.
“Brittany can be wicked from behind the three-point line and is strong enough to get to the rim with power,” Britsky said. “She is an all-around player with great court awareness. I believe Brittany will mesh well with our returners and make us stronger.”
Grant was a 2014-15 All-Mid-Florida Conference First Team selection and a member of the 2013-14 Florida College System Activities Association All-Academic Team.
Grant amassed plenty of recognition over her prep career at Horn Lake High School as well, as she was named to the All-State Tournament Team as a senior, was a two-time Best of MS Preps selection and a member of the 2010 Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 6A State Championship team.
