Teresa O’Bryant named SGTC executive assistant to president

AMERICUS — South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) President John Watford, Ed.D., announced that Teresa O’Bryant has been named executive assistant to the president at SGTC. O’Bryant has been serving as the administrative assistant for Watford during his tenure as cice president of Academic Affairs and also worked with him when he was the director of Academic Affairs.
Tami Blount, administrative assistant for vice president of Economic Development Wally Summers, has been serving as the interim administrative assistant for the President’s Office and the Economic Development office since Edna Laster retired from the President’s office in 2013. Blount will resume her full-time duties as the administrative assistant for the Economic Development office.
Teresa O’Bryant is a graduate of the microcomputer specialist program at SGTC and has academic credit towards a bachelor of science degree in business administration. She is also a graduate of Americus High School. She began working with SGTC as a work study student and then graduated and had a number of other positions in the private sector. She returned to SGTC full-time in 1997, and has been working in the academic affairs division until her recent appointment.
As the executive assistant to the President, O’Bryant will also be responsible for working with the SGTC board of directors and taking minutes for the board meetings.
She has three children, Carla, Chris, and Carlos and five grandchildren. She is engaged to the Rev. Michael Cunningham and is a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Americus.
