AMERICUS — Mr. Emory Fouche Parker Sr., age 78, of Americus, Ga., died Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at Oak Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Keith Parks will officiate. The family will receive friends at the residence located at 2012 Rose Ave., Americus GA 31709. The following are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers: Charles Strickland, Len Hicks, Buddy Guth, Ray Baldwin, Ed Pope, Ross Chambliss, Bill Harris, Raymond Holt, Wally Summers, Dan Torbert, Jody Wade, Earl Dunmon, George Saratsiotis, Bobby Avant, Broadus Willoughby, Kelso Goodin, and Jim Herron.
Mr. Parker was born July 22, 1938, in Americus, Ga., son of the late Horace Hugh Parker and the late Evelyn Fouche Parker. Mr. Parker retired from Sumter Bank and Trust as senior vice president. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church and served as deacon.
Survivors include his wife Sandra Parker; two sons, Emory F. Parker Jr. and wife Lynde of Americus, Ga., and Dr. Thomas Hugh Parker and wife Jennifer of Columbus, Ga.; one sister and brother-in-law, Marian Elizabeth Pinnell and husband Jeryl of Americus, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Susan Tillman King and husband Bob of Lebanon, Tenn.; and four grandchildren, Tripp Parker and Sara Cathryn Parker, both of Americus, Ga., and Haley Parker and Olivia Parker both of Columbus, Ga.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 221 S Lee St., Americus GA 31709; Pruitt Health Hospice, 708 16th Ave. East, Cordele GA 31015; or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 409410, Atlanta GA 30384.
