DESOTO — Mr. Robert Edward Miller, age 90, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, at his home in DeSoto, Ga.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, at First Presbyterian Church in Americus, Ga., with the Rev. Sommer Bower officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. today, Jan. 25, at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Americus, 125 S. Jackson St., Americus GA 31709; or Phoebe Sumter Hospice, P.O. Box 1434, Americus GA 31709.
Mr. Miller was born Jan. 21, 1927, in Bronwood, Ga., the son of the late Lloyd Jackson Miller and Ruth Everett Miller. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. Mr. Miller was an elder of First Presbyterian Church which he joined in 1955. Through hard work and perseverance, he grew the family farm and established the Kaylor-Miller Compound in 1960. He also served for 20 years as a member and chairman on the Lee County Board of Education.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Nancy Kaylor Miller; four daughters: Kay Miller Crawford (Steve) of Destin, Fla., Julie Miller Schroeder (Jess) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mandy Miller Ennis (Temple) of Livingston, Ala., and Lanie Miller Kent (Sam) of Birmingham, Ala.; seven grandchildren: Cathy Crawford Griffin (Mike), Chris Crawford, Justin Schroeder (Alison), Tempie Ennis, Robby Kent, Teddy Kent and Callie Kent; and two great-grandchildren, Penny Schroeder and Caroline Schroeder.
