AMERICUS — Edward E. Cobb, 84, of Leslie, Georgia, passed away Jan. 25, 2017, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center after a brief illness.
Edward was born Aug. 1, 1932, to Jimmie D. and Annie Virginia Bass Cobb, of Dothan Ala., who preceded him in death.
In keeping with his wishes, Reflections Funeral Home of Tifton, Ga., are in charge of his creamation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
He graduated from Rehobeth High School, Rehobeth, Ala., and from George Wallace Community College, Dothan, Ala.
Edward retired from Railway Express division of Central of Georgia Railroad, and became the owner/operator of Cobb Trucking. In 1986. he became the owner of Leslie Gulf Service Station, and retired in 2009, from the City of Leslie as Water and Maintenence supervisor.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by one brother James
Ray Cobb, Dothan, Ala.; a sister Ernestine Cobb; an infant son and his first
wife and mother of his children, Peggy Walker Cobb.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Cummings Cobb, Leslie, Ga.; two daughters
Angie Benitez (Edward) of Franklin, Tenn., and Julie Morrell, of Orlando, Fla.; two
grandchildren Peggy McDonnell of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Phil McDonnell of
Orlando, Fla.; and one great-granddaughter Sidney McDonnell of Orlando, Fla.; one stepson, Mike Carmichael, of Quitman, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Cindy Carmichael of Blakely and Cathy Carmichel Jones of Thomasville, Ga.; two stepgrandchildren Kelsey Jones of Atlanta, Ga., and Jake Jones of Brunswick, Ga.; one Sister, Melba Pullen of Hartford, Ala.; and two brothers, Gene Cobb (Gwen) Hartford,
Ala., and Joe Cobb (Bernice) of Fort Walton, Fla.
