AMERICUS — The brand new, local magazine — Americus — is now out in its inaugural issue. Copies are available at the Americus Times-Recorder offices, Citizens Bank downtown, The Maze, Roman Oven  Pizzeria, Bittersweet Coffee and Bookstore, Little Brothers Bistro, Center Stage Market, Café Campesino, and the Americus-Sumter County Chamber of Commerce.
The 64-page first issue includes interesting and meaningful stories about a local business leader, an historic home, and a son donating his late father’s World War II diary to the Library of Congress. The first issue also includes book reviews and a special section of photos of local people at local events.
“The sole focus of this new publication is to feature local people, places, and events,” said Beth Alston, editor and publisher. “While the stories will always be compelling, we believe the people will respond very favorably to seeing their names and faces in the beautiful, new publication! Every bit of revenue from the magazine stays right here in Americus and Sumter County. We certainly hope everyone enjoys the new magazine and will support it.”
Americus magazine is free per issue, and annual mail subscriptions are available at $16 for in-state, $20 for out-of-state, and $24 for international mailing. The magazine will publish quarterly. Please make payment to Americus News Media, LLC, P.O. Box 1247, Americus GA 31709.
“Our format is to include features on individuals, local history, the arts, and architecture in every issue,” Alston said. “So, if you have story ideas, please contact us at the Times-Recorder. Also, if you have photos from a school or family reunion, fundraiser or other special event, please submit them to us.
“We are very excited about the new magazine, and everyone is buzzing about it. We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed producing it.”
