AMERICUS — Mr. Wendell Nealey Sr., age 78, of Plains, Ga., died Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. The Rev. Bill Nealey and the Rev. Ron Perry will officiate. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Aldridge Funeral Services.
Mr. Wendell Luke Nealey Sr. was born May 2, 1938, in Canton, Ga., to his parents Herman John Nealey and Eva Geneva Williams Nealey. Mr. Nealey was a retired self-employed truck driver. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Farley Jean Nealey of Plains, Ga.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Wendell Nealey Jr. (Angela) of Plains, Ga., James Nealey (Ann) of Colorado, Jo`n-Paul Nealey (Karen) of Colorado, and Lorin King (Kathy) of Colorado; two brothers, Willi Bill Nealey (Mary) of Missouri and Gary Nealey (Carolyn) of Jasper, Ga.; 19 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Nealey was preceded in death by his father Herman John Nealey and his mother Eva Geneva Nealey and two brothers Sam Nealey and John Nealey.
