Cordele trio arrested in armed robbery

AMERICUS — Shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday, officers with the Americus Police Department responded to the Quick Stop convenience store at 1702 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., to the report of an armed robbery in progress. Upon officers’ arrival, it was learned that the store had been robbed at gun point. A description of the suspects was obtained, and they apprehended a short time later.
Arrested were Keefus Bernard Smith, 29, of Cordele, charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault (gun), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime; Jimetavious
Carvoice Brown, 30, of Cordele, charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault (gun), possession of a fire arm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime; and
April Nicole Cooper, 26, of Cordele, charged with armed robbery.
All three were processed and taken to the Sumter County Jail.
In a press release, the Americus Police Department expressed appreciation for citizens for their assistance which helped in making quick arrests.
