As most local sports fans are likely aware, the Times-Recorder often has a photographer present at area athletic events. Whether it’s one of the local high school’s homecoming football games, a Georgia Southwestern State University basketball match-up in the Storm Dome, a Sumter County Parks and Recreation baseball tournament, or a pick-up soccer game, the ATR’s photographer can often be seen on the sidelines snapping hundreds of pictures.
After the Schley County Wildcats’ exciting state championship victory over the Gordon Lee Trojans last week, the editors at the Times-Recorder thought it would be a good idea to share some of our favorite photographs from the Wildcats’ 2017 season that were not able to be included in editions during the season.
With literally hundreds of photos to choose from, this small sampling of the ATR’s archive photos showcases many of the Wildcats’ star players doing one of the things that they do best; playing baseball and playing the game well.
Below are some of the ATR’s best snapshots of the Wildcats in action this season as they barreled their way through the Class-A competition on their way to the championship match, where they would eventually claim the state title.
