SGTC’s Jordan Bates inks NLI with Point University

AMERICUS – South Georgia Technical College’s Jordan Bates, a red shirt freshman member of the Jets basketball player team, which finished second in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association conference this past season, has signed a letter of intent to continue his basketball career as a Skyhawk at Point University in West Point, Georgia. The announcement was recently made by Jets head basketball coach Travis Garrett.
The 6’6” forward from Orlando, Fla. played two seasons with the South Georgia Technical College Jets. He played in 25 of the Jets games this past season. He averaged 2.8 points per game and hit 33.3 percent of his three-point attempts.
Garrett and Assistant Coach Chris Ballauer were there for the signing. “I’m extremely proud of Jordan and his accomplishments on and off the court, but especially in the classroom. He maintained a 4.0 GPA and is a Presidential Honor Graduate,” said Garrett. “He will have three years to play at Point and I think he has a bright future at Point University.”
Bates received his Associate of Applied Science degree in Recreation and Leisure Management and will begin working towards his next degree while attending Point University.
