PLAINS — Calling all Plains High School alumni and Plains community members! Join classmates and friends from 5 -8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8 for “Back to School at Plains High.” Stroll up and down the halls reliving those days as a Buffalo. Do you remember Mr. Sheffield’s paddle? Do you remember the sounds of Miss Julia ringing her bell or her scrapbooks? These and more items from the collection will be on temporary display.
Everyone is encouraged to bring pictures and stories to share from your time at Plains High School. Jimmy Carter National Historic Site staff will also have photos on display for viewing and identification. Will you see your long-lost boy/girlfriend? Will you spot the “one that got away”? Staff will also be available to answer questions and share updates to the site. Snacks will be provided for Friday night’s event.
The “Back to School” weekend continues on Saturday, Sept. 9. Experience the sights and sounds of a Plains High School day again! Meet in the auditorium for Chapel at 10 a.m. Classes will begin promptly after, and of course there will be recess! After class, enjoy fellowship with friends old and new. Saturday’s event is open to the general public.
This event is sponsored by the Friends of Jimmy Carter National Historic Site. For more information, call 229-928-4825 or 229-824-4104.
