Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) is adding a little more variety to the holiday event that was formerly known as ‘Wheatley Lighting.’ On Nov. 27, the first ‘Canes Community Christmas’ will include the annual ‘Wheatley Lighting’ ceremony and more. The event begins at 6 p.m. on the Wheatley Administration Building Lawn. The community is invited to a night full of seasonal celebrations that include live holiday music from the GSW Department of Music, Furlow Charter School, Sumter County Middle School and Southland Academy. Santa Claus will be on hand, as will GSW’s mascot Surge. Kids will be treated to storytime, and cookies and hot cocoa will be available for everyone.
This event is free and the community is invited.
