ELLAVILLE — Students at Schley County Middle/High School joined other schools, businesses, families, and youth across America by planting bulbs during Red Ribbon Week. National Plant the Promise Week coincides with National Red Ribbon Week and provides an opportunity to reinforce the “Say No to Drugs” message.
Planting flowers is a symbol of hope, and a great way to involve both children and adults in the Red Ribbon Week campaign.
“These bulbs will bloom into vibrant yellow daffodils and will serve as a reminder to stay drug free,” said Tracy Elliot, program organizer. “As an added campaign bonus, most bulbs that are planted during October will bloom in April, during National Alcohol Awareness Month,” she added.
Coach Cliff Royal instructed students on the proper way to plant the 100 Dutch Master daffodils in front of the high school building. They look forward to enjoying the flowers in the spring!
