Support Group: Innovative Senior Solutions announces “Flint River CARE- NET Support Group,” a care-net collaboration between Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving. A ribbon cutting, and first meeting will be from noon-1:30 p.m. March 20 at the Rosalynn Carter Institute in Americus. Lunch will be served during this meeting time. Keynote speaker is Gayle Alston, program director of RCI, vendors, and more. The CARE-NET meeting is a volunteer coalition of professional and family caregivers who meet quarterly and carry out educational projects, resource development and advocacy for all types of caregivers in the eight counties of Sumter, Randolph, Crisp, Dooly, Macon, Webster, Schley and Clay.

State Spelling Bee: The 57th Georgia Association of Educators’ (GAE) State Spelling Bee begins at 11 a.m. March 16 at Jimmy Carter National Historic Site in the Plains High School auditorium. Twenty of Georgia’s finest spellers will compete to represent the state at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., May 27-June 2. This event is free and open to the public. GriefShare: First Baptist Church offers a non-denominational video series and biblical concepts for healing after the death of a loved one. Led by caring people, participants are provided workbooks for personal study and receive encouragement through small-group discussion. Meetings are from 7-8:30 p.m. the first and third Mondays of each month. There is no cost and the meetings are open to anyone grieving the death of a loved one.
