Hunter Jumper: The Sumter County Saddle Club holds a Hunter Jumper class March 10 at 504 Southerfield Road. Registration starts at 8 a.m., classes at 9. Most classes are $5. Farmers’ Meeting: A Disease & Fertility Meeting for all crops is at 6 p.m. March 19 at the Sumter County Agricultural Center Auditorium. UGA Specialist Bob Kemerait presents the program. Support Group: Innovative Senior Solutions announces “Flint River CARE- NET Support Group,” a care-net collaboration between Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving. A ribbon cutting, and first meeting will be from noon-1:30 p.m. March 20 at the Rosalynn Carter Institute in Americus. Lunch will be served during this meeting time. Keynote speaker is Gayle Alston, program director of RCI, vendors, and more. The CARE-NET meeting is a volunteer coalition of professional and family caregivers who meet quarterly and carry out educational projects, resource development and advocacy for all types of caregivers in the eight counties of Sumter, Randolph, Crisp, Dooly, Macon, Webster, Schley and Clay.

State Spelling Bee: The 57th Georgia Association of Educators’ (GAE) State Spelling Bee begins at 11 a.m. March 16 at Jimmy Carter National Historic Site in the Plains High School auditorium. Twenty of Georgia’s finest spellers will compete to represent the state at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., May 27-June 2. This event is free and open to the public. Stockade Girls: A program — The 1963 Leesburg Stockade Girls, Remembering, Recognizing and Honoring the 1963 Civil Rights Heroes — is at noon March 10 at Lee County High School Ninth Grade Gymnasium. Open to the public; refreshments will be served.

RCI REACH is a free dementia caregiver support program, with eligibility based on caregiver assessment, regardless of income. Caregivers’ Companion: The monthly Caregivers’ Companion Support Group meets the at 6 p.m. the second Thursday of every month at the Roman Oven Pizzeria. All former and current caregivers for persons with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia are welcome. Meals are Dutch treat.

Nextdoor: Nextdoor, a free phone and device app, is a great way to stay in the know about what’s going on in our neighborhoods — whether it’s finding a last-minute babysitter, learning about an upcoming event, or hearing about a rash of car break-ins. There are 141,000 “neighborhoods” on Nextdoor, with 14 in the Americus area. Citizens are finding lost pets, alerting others to suspicious activity and becoming closer neighbors through this free site. The website is www.nextdoor.com.

Free Service: Americus Fire & Emergency Services offers free blood pressure checks from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Station 1 (South Lee Street).

GriefShare: First Baptist Church offers a non-denominational video series and biblical concepts for healing after the death of a loved one. Led by caring people, participants are provided workbooks for personal study and receive encouragement through small-group discussion. Meetings are from 7-8:30 p.m. the first and third Mondays of each month. There is no cost and the meetings are open to anyone grieving the death of a loved one. Volunteers Needed: SOWEGA Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), office serving a six-county area, needs volunteers to work with abused and neglected children who are involved in the court system.
