CAPE NEDDICK, Maine — Tammy McDade Hammock, 56 years old, previously from Albany, Ga., went home to be with God on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at her last home in Cape Neddick, Maine. After nearly a year and a half of rigorous chemotherapy and radiation, she lost her long fought battle with stage four cancer. Tammy was born July 13, 1961, in Washington, D.C. Her family soon moved to Albany where Tammy grew up with her sister and brother.
Tammy was a hard worker at every job she’s ever had. She began her life working with children as well as being a waitress. She then cleaned houses for a number of years, followed by work in retail for six years, then lastly transitioned to homecare. She always loved taking care of others, and always put their needs above her own. Her most important job was being a mother to her three kids, and Tammy arranged her life and schedule around the needs of her children.
Her hobbies included spending time with family and friends. She loved going to the beach. The beach has always been her favorite place to visit. Though she rarely got in the water, she loved sitting in the sand, looking at the view. She attended AA meetings for about seven years where she developed several close and meaningful friendships.
Tammy has three daughters with Pete Hammock: Amber (30) of Cape Neddick, Maine, Aly (27) of Culleoka, Tenn., and Abby (17) of Albany, Ga. She is also survived by her grandson Beau (1); her sons-in-law Randall Dominey, Josh Hargrove, and Bennett Smith; her sister, Robin McDade; her mother, Patricia Chason; her niece, Brittany McDade; and her nephews, Blayne Hutchins and Cole Tanner. She is preceded in death by her brother, Terry McDade, and her father, Roy McDade.
Tammy’s service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany, Ga. The visitation will be at 9 a.m., followed by her Celebration of Life at 10 a.m. The service will be conducted by family and all are invited to attend.
