Community saddened by death of Jacquelyn Dillard
The Ellaville community is sad to have heard of the death of Jacquelyn Rigsby Dillard, age 90.
She was well known and was loved. She was married to her late husband Vernon Dillard for 62 years. They had two children Jolyn Dillard Morris of Columbus and Jody Dillard of Ellaville, and six grandchildren.
Jacquelyn had been a member of Ellaville United Methodist Church for years. She had a lovely voice and sang in the choir and for weddings and many other special occasions. She was a honorary member of the Thomas Edwin Wall American Legion, and loved to play bridge with her friends. She was a member of the Ellaville-Schley County Historical Society since it started, and she was a wonderful cook.
She taught school and then went to work with the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services in Schley County.

Ellaville Methodist hurch to host barbecues
Ellaville United Methodist Church hosts two different kinds of barbecues Aug.14-19: one for barbecued chicken and the other for pork barbecue. You can buy tickets in advance, at $8 each, throughout July
Two Dukes B-B-Que in Americus is doing the cooking and plates will be picked up there at 500 Tripp St., Americus.

Ellaville-Schley Historical Society selling coffee mugs
The Ellaville-Schley County Historical Society is selling historical coffee mugs featuring photos of the City Park, the Schley County Courthouse and snowy scenes.
The mugs, at $15 each, are dishwasher and microwave safef. For information call me 937-2116.

Justices host special family gathering
On June 26, Wilbur and Vicki Justice had Vicki’s family from the Atlanta area as guests.
Emily (Aunt Emmie) is Vicki’s paternal aunt and is spry to be 84 years old. Coming with her were her daughter Sandy Dillard Massello and two more cousins, Marcia Hinton Chambers and Arleen Hinton Rosser, daughters of Ruth Harris, another of Vicki’s father’s sisters. Also visiting on this special occasion were Liberty and Dixie Justice, daughters of Jason and Dawn Justice.
Sandy and Vicki enjoy researching their family genealogy and they spent time looking at pictures and comparing notes as the others listened.
Vicki served a delicious dinner.
