Mr. George Wayne Goodroe, 74, stepped from this life into his eternal home Aug. 2, 2018, after a long and hard-fought battle with a complex medical condition. A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 5 at Concord United Methodist Church, Ga. Highway 30, Americus with Brother Mike Lawson officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church, from 2-3 p.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus.

George was born Aug. 29, 1943, to Luther and Quida Goodroe in Buena Vista, Georgia, and spent his childhood in Marion County. He grew up with older siblings, Donald and Myra, and also was big brother to Stanley. He was preceded in death by his parents and also by sister Myra Parker and brother-in-law Whit Parker.

Survivors include wife, Diane Harbuck Goodroe; daughters, Gina LaBorde and Sharon Peterson; sons-in-law Ralph LaBorde and Randy Peterson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Margaret Goodroe, and Stanley and Catherine Goodroe; and two granddaughters, Loclyn LaBorde and Sheridan Peterson. Other special family members, both living and deceased, include: G.F. and Julia Harbuck, Clayton and Dixie Harbuck, Annette and Zeke Woods, Mary and Bill Ray, Judy and Bill Bell, Valeria and Denny Fender, Billy Lightner, and many nieces and nephews.
