(March 5-12)

• Firefighters responded to 15 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on East Lamar Street.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Felder Street.
• Firefighters were dispatched to a fire alarm at a strip mall on East Forsyth Street. No hazards were found. It was a false alarm. They responded to the same location almost 12 hours later; still no hazards found. The following morning, they responded to the same location three more times and still no hazards found. Investigation showed there was no alarm going off at this location but is somehow associated with the Albany store location.
• Firefighters responded to Habitat Street to a report of a smell of gas. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters went to Hosanna Circle to assist a homeowner with a smoke detector going off. They found the home security system had low batteries in several devices. The Americus Fire smoke detectors were operating correctly. The occupant was advised to replace batteries in the devices. They responded again later to the same location to assist with alarm system.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire on Elm Avenue. They found a water heater to be shorted out. No fire or other hazards were found.
