TIFTON — “The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams” once stated Oprah Winfrey. Clint Walker, raised in Americus, has recently chosen to pursue his passion for drama.
Walker graduated from Americus High School in 1984. He remembers how he always wanted to be an actor, but there weren’t very many opportunities when growing up. He doesn’t even recall his high school having a drama department. Walker came from an entertainment background. His father, James David Walker, was a country music artist.
Following high school graduation, Walker joined the military. He went on to become a member of the United States Army’s experimental force, Cohart. There he was named the E-5 Sergeant Ranger. Walker received many awards from his years in service, one being his expert infantry badge. One rewarding experience Walker gained while serving was visiting Hollywood. He claims that his passion for acting grew during his time in California.
After concluding his military service, Walker came back home to Americus. He met his now ex-wife and became the father to his daughter, Halle Lakyn Walker. Halle will be graduating from Colquitt County High School this spring. Seeing how he no longer has a wife or small child to care for, Walker thought this was a prime opportunity to pursue acting.
Walker stumbled upon a friend who was preforming as a background actor (extra). From that encounter, he got the idea to submit a headshot along with some personal information to the casting company, Southern Casting Calls. The following day, Walker received news that he could have a small part on the popular show, Legacies, if he wanted it. He graciously accepted and got his start acting as a groundskeeper. You may notice him in season one, episode two of the show.
Now days, Walker resides in Tifton. He is working with an acting coach out of Savannah in an attempt to grow his performance abilities. While acting, he is also working with his cousins at their family business, Tri W Pools. Walker recently worked with his coach to film an audition video. With this video, Walker received an incredible opportunity to star in an upcoming new short film, In the Wake of Judgement. This film will begin shooting in Atlanta in a few, short weeks.
Because of his unwavering courage and determination, Clint Walker can proudly say that he is living out his lifelong dream of being an actor.
“I can tell everyone at 53, to never give up on your dreams,” he said.
